"Marathon Running"

Pheidippides the messenger and professional long distance runner ran from Marathon, Greece to Athens in 490BC to spread a message that Greece had won the battle of Marathon over the Persians. Upon crying, ‘Hail, we are the winners’ he then collapsed and died soon after. He ran a total of 240kms in two days

the guy that ''made'' the first marathon and we start making the modern version of marathon to honor him, was named Pheidippides, was an athenian soldier that after the battle of marathon against the persians (a place outside Athens around 25 miles i think) run to Athens to tell them about the victory and inform them though that the persian lost the battle but are coming with the ships to lute Athens (since all the solders were in marathon still) so he run to warn them that, the Athenias then dressed the women and old people as soldiers and put them on the walls so when persians came they thought that they were late and the athenian army came back, so they left back to Asia. The main point of this is the Pheidippides DIED straight after he delivered the message to them! He DIED from heart attack!
